TextAI is an AI texting and writing assistant for iPhone, developed by Engcraft, LLC. Its main advantage is that it works as a system keyboard: instead of switching to a separate app, copying text back and forth and losing your place, you call it up inside whichever messaging, email or notes app you are already using and rewrite the text in place.

The app is organized around more than 220 task-specific tools rather than a single open-ended chat box. The writing set covers grammar correction, shortening or expanding a passage, improving sentence structure, simplifying dense text, summarizing, paraphrasing, generating titles, organizing rough ideas and finding synonyms. The messaging set drafts and improves everyday texts, from replies and invitations to apologies, thank-you notes, cancellations and icebreakers, and it can read a conversation from a screenshot to suggest an answer that fits the context. Email tools do the same for longer correspondence, including cold outreach and follow-ups.

Before generating, you choose the tone you want: formal, casual, confident, funny, flirty, romantic, punchy or trendy, among others. The same message therefore reads differently for a manager than it does for a friend, which is what keeps the output from sounding generic. Requests are processed in the cloud and powered by GPT-4o.
